Welcome to Jurassic Park: An epic wedding for Helen & Mark

Spotted in our Fall/Winter 2023 issue of Today’s Bride, this unique and fabulous wedding ranks up there among the most epic of all time. Helen and Mark went all out with an incredible Jurassic Park-themed wedding that must be seen to be believed. From dinosaur cake toppers to jungle-inspired tableware, their blockbuster nuptials is proof that when it comes to your wedding day, anything goes.

Here’s their story:

This adventurous couple met in Austria as snowboard instructors, but it took a few more countries and a few more years before they became engaged and settled in Whistler, B.C. What followed was the most epic wedding ever.

Favourite moments: According to Hel and Mark, seeing the room reveal, the band, partying and dancing topped the list of special moments.

The perfect theme: The self-proclaimed “silly” couple wanted an outside-the-box theme for their wedding. “We both just really love the movie Jurassic Park,” says Helen. “We quote it all the time and watch it so much. Our shared love of the Jurassic Park movies is something we cherish and enjoy together. We are quite opposites and over the years I’ve become less interested in snowboarding. Jurassic Park is almost like our main shared interest! So, to us, it made sense to do Jurassic Park as a theme so that our wedding would be memorable and unique and just something totally fun!”

The little things: It’s all the small details that make a truly great event. From the table names to the dino-topped cake, each item contributed to the Jurassic vibe. The bride had her own faves. “The floral arrangements were stunning,” she says. “And the monstera leaf place cards were a really sweet detail!”

Advice for engaged couples: Helen says, “I think it’s really important to not get lost in trying to please everyone else, and remember that it’s your wedding. Make sure it’s everything you want. And as stressful as it can be, it’s also fun to plan. Try to keep it fun and enjoy the process.”
